Photographs & Paintings

Eden Spencer is a British artist, based in Birmingham, UK. His practice revolves primarily around photography with the occasional videography, although he is currently immersing himself in animation. Throughout the past few years, Eden has been creating works of various mediums including, casting, woodwork, painting, photography and film/editing, all which led him to realising his interests lay within the digital aspects of the art world.

Whilst exploring these digital mediums Eden found art enjoyable in a way that he never had before. Photography not only captures moments and memories but has also made him more aware of his surroundings and how to consider light, shadows, framing, and colours within his work.

Eden’s favourite piece included his own sunset photography with similar copies produced using paint, creating one vast artwork ‘Viewpoint’. This work captures moments in time and the ever changing world we live in. The intentions were to grasp the audience's attention and draw them in by having multiple colourful, small and different artworks make up one larger piece. Whilst having the work displayed in a corner the spectators would physically have to go into the area and be within the work rather than just viewing it from afar on a plain wall.

Eden’s focal influences into exploring landscape photography are events/travel photographer, Zakary Walters and landscape photographer, Paul Reiffer. Both have inspired him in different ways towards specific pathways of photography, previously and still now in his spare time he’s focused on landscape photography, Reiffer’s work has been known to motivate him to continue to capture the scenic views and appreciate the constant yet remarkable changes the world faces, whilst Zak creates work, that he’s always the opportunity to produce himself in the future.

His artwork has featured in multiple exhibitions, such as 'What Matters Most'(2018), many located in Birmingham School of Art and the biggest being 'Hyperstew' (2019) at Centrala in Birmingham, UK.
